Polio & Club-Foot Surgeries
Polio & Club Foot Surgeries
St. Stephens Hospital Tis Hazari, Delhi - (RC Delhi Garden City supported since 2013)
Our partnership with St. Stephens Hospital started in 2013-14 with an initial donation of Rs 3.50 Lakhs for Polio Corrective Surgeries. Our goal was to reduce the disability arising from childhood musculoskeletal problems including paralytic poliomyelitis and to financially help economically weaker children undergo surgery, physiotherapy and rehabilitation to get them to be independent and walk on their own.
Building on the success of the Polio Corrective surgeries, we expanded our partnership to cover children suffering from Club Foot, a limb abnormality usually present at birth in which a baby's foot is twisted out of shape or position. 75,000 children are born in India with club feet.
Since 2013, RC Delhi Garden City has continuously supported both Polio Corrective & Club Foot surgeries (subsidised cost approximately Rs 10,000 per child). All our contributions are matched by the St. Stephens Hospital Patients Welfare Association which doubles the impact of contributions from RC Delhi Garden City members.
