Introduction to Rotary
Rotary is a volunteer organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. There are approximately 1.4 million Rotary club members belonging to 46,000 Rotary clubs put in 47 million volunteer hours in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.
In order to carry out its service programs, Rotary is structured in club, district and international levels. All Rotarians are members of their clubs. The clubs are chartered by the global organisation Rotary International (RI) headquartered in Evanston, Illinois. For administrative purposes, the more than 46,000 clubs worldwide are grouped into 520 districts (29 of which are in India), and the districts into 34 zones.
The Rotary Club of Delhi Garden City, is affiliated with and works closely with the following three arms of Rotary:
- Rotary International: Rotary's umbrella organization
- Rotary Foundation: Rotary's charitable organization
- Rotary District 3011, Delhi: RC Delhi Garden City's parent district
